Very predictable result in Athens where sixth ranked AEK (9-6) beat 11th ranked Aris (5-10) 73-64 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 73-64. It was a great evening for international Giannoulis Larentzakis (195-93, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory scoring 11 points and 6 assists. The former international forward Panagiotis Vasilopoulos (202-84) helped adding 7 points and 10 rebounds. Four AEK players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international power forward Michalis Tsairelis (206-88) with 18 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Efstratios Voulgaropoulos (215-0) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for AEK. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Promitheas. Aris lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with ten games lost. They share it with G.Larissa-Faros. AEK will meet Cretan Kings (#8) in the next round. Aris will play against Lavrio and hope to secure a win.
