Regular Season Round 19: Gravelines - Boulazac 113-111

A very close game took place in Gravelines between Gravelines-Dunkerque and Boulazac Basket. Eleventh ranked Gravelines-Dunkerque (9-10) got a very close home victory over 17th ranked Boulazac Basket (6-13). Gravelines-Dunkerque managed to escape with a 2-point win 113-111 on Saturday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Gravelines-Dunkerque looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American Chris Johnson (198-90, college: Dayton) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Terry Allen (203-93, college: Richmond) accounted for 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Gravelines-Dunkerque players scored in double figures. Nigerian forward Ndudi Ebi (206-84) came up with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and American swingman Quincy Diggs (198-90, college: Akron, agency: Mansfield and Associates) added 28 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Boulazac Basket in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Gravelines-Dunkerque moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Boulazac Basket keeps the seventeenth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Chalon. Gravelines-Dunkerque will meet league's leader Monaco on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Boulazac Basket will play against JDA Dijon (#9) and hope to secure a win.
