Regular Season Round 17: Valencia - Magec Tias 76-55

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Magec Tias (7-10) was outplayed on the road by second ranked Valencia (14-3) 76-55 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Valencia. Magec Tias was better in third quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Valencia forced 19 Magec Tias turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Montenegrin guard Snezana Aleksic (173-89, agency: ProDep Management) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners and Mali power forward Meiya Tirera (186-86, agency: ProDep Management) chipped in 19 points. Valencia's coach Ruben Burgos felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Argentinian power forward Ornella Santana (183-90) responded with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and center Yaiza Garcia (190-88) scored 13 points. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Valencia. They maintain second place in Group B with 14-3 record having just three points less than leader Gran Canaria. Magec Tias lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. Valencia will face Almeria (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Magec Tias will play against Leganes and hope to win that game.
