Regular Season Round 21: AZS KU PO - Sudety 98-71

There was no surprise in Opole where 5th ranked Sudety (12-9) was crushed by third ranked AZS KU PO (16-5) 98-71 on Saturday. AZS KU PO dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Sudety's 32. They outrebounded Sudety 43-29 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. AZS KU PO looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Sudety's players. The best player for the winners was forward Grzegorz Zadecki (195-83) who scored 28 points and 8 rebounds. Power forward Adam Cichon (203-90) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Four AZS KU PO players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Michal Kozak (179-92) who recorded 24 points and swingman Aleksander Raczek (192-92) added 15 points, 6 assists and 4 steals respectively. Sudety's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. AZS KU PO maintains third place in Group D with 16-5 record having just two points less than leader Gornik Walbrzych. Loser Sudety dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. AZS KU PO will face Rawia (#9) in Rawicz in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Sudety will play at home against the league's second-placed Slask 2 Wroclaw and hope to win that game.
