Regular Season Round 17: Real Canoe - CVCD Granada 65-49

No shocking result in a game in Madrid where fifth ranked Real Canoe (12-5) won against 9th ranked CVCD Granada (6-11) 65-49 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Real Canoe. CVCD Granada was better in fourth quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded CVCD Granada 45-32 including 34 on the defensive glass. Lithuanian power forward Dovile Miliauskaite (187-89, college: Towson, agency: ProDep Management) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and power forward Veronica Matoso (185-88, agency: ProDep Management) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds. Real Canoe's coach Jose Luis Vicente used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Beatriz Cala responded with 6 points and 9 rebounds and Rebeca Rodriguez scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. Real Canoe moved-up to fourth place in Group B, which they share with Adelantados. CVCD Granada at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the ninth position with 11 games lost. Real Canoe will face league's leader Gran Canaria in Las Palmas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. CVCD Granada will play on the road against Picken Claret (#7) in Valencia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
