Regular Season Round 19: Chalon - Nanterre 85-55
Date: February 3, 2018
Bottom-ranked Chalon/Saor managed to get the second consecutive victory. This time defending champion outleveled seventh-ranked JSF Nanterre 85-55. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 30-point difference suggests that Chalon/Saor is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. The game without a history. Chalon/Saor led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding JSF Nanterre to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded JSF Nanterre 45-23 including a 33-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Chalon/Saor players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a great evening for the former international center Ousmane Camara (205-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 9 rebounds. Naturalized Cameroonian Jeremy Nzeulie (188-91) helped adding 17 points. Five Chalon/Saor players scored in double figures. At the losing side American Jamal Shuler (191-86, college: VCU) responded with 13 points and 4 assists and international Lahaou Konate (196-91) scored 14 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion (6-13) moved-up to seventeenth place, which they share with Boulazac. JSF Nanterre at the other side dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. They share it with ASVEL. Chalon/Saor will play against higher ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (#14) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. JSF Nanterre will play against Le Portel (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
