Regular Season Round 22: Almeria - Medacbasket 77-86

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Almeria (7-8) was defeated at home by third ranked Medacbasket (11-5) 86-77 on Sunday. Almeria was trailing by 9 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 32-22 charge of Medacbasket, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Almeria's 28. Almeria was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Pablo Ibanez (198-93) scored 27 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Deshawn Curtis (198-92, college: Cheyney) chipped in 17 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Four Medacbasket players scored in double figures. Medacbasket's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Jesus Moral (-92) responded with 15 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Roberto Rueda (182-86) scored 16 points and 4 assists. Medacbasket moved-up to second place in Group D-A, which they share with Marbella. Newly promoted Almeria keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. Medacbasket will face league's second-placed Marbella at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Almeria will play against Unicaja-Andalucia (#6) in Malaga and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
