Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Olympiacos Volou (3-11) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Niki Lefkadas (7-7) 75-57 on Sunday. The game without a history. Niki Lefkadas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Niki Lefkadas outrebounded Olympiacos Volou 35-24 including 26 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Peyton Whitted (190-95, college: Penn St.) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). International swingman Elena Tsineke (174-99) chipped in 24 points. Four Niki Lefkadas players scored in double figures. Niki Lefkadas' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Ciara Andrews (175-94, college: St.Joseph's) produced 19 points and 5 rebounds and forward Eytixi Deligianni (183-84) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Niki Lefkadas moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Athinaikos. Newly promoted Olympiacos Volou keeps the tenth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Panathlitikos. Niki Lefkadas will meet at home higher ranked PAOK (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Olympiacos Volou will play against the league's leader Olympiacos (#1) in Pireus and hope to secure a win.
