The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Ryukyu GK (26-8) in Okinawa on Sunday night. Hosts were rolled over by second ranked Kyoto Hannar. (19-15) 87-67. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Ryukyu GK. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Kyoto Hannar. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American center Joshua Smith (208-92, college: Georgetown) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Ito Tatsuya (173-94) contributed with 13 points and 5 assists for the winners. American forward Hassan Martin (201-95, college: Rhode Island) answered with 17 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and the former international guard Ryuichi Kishimoto (176-90) added 13 points in the effort for Ryukyu GK. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kyoto Hannar. maintains second place with 19-15 record having eight points less than leader Ryukyu GK. Ryukyu GK at the other side still keeps top position with eight games lost. They share it with SeaHorses. Kyoto Hannar. are looking forward to face Niigata Albirex (#5) at home in the next round. Ryukyu GK will play against Shiga L-Stars (#4) and is hoping to win this game.
