Regular Season Round 14: Dafni Agioy - Proteas 52-45

Very expected game in Athens where 9th ranked Proteas (4-10) was defeated by fifth ranked Dafni Agioy (8-6) 52-45 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 15-8. But Proteas won second period 13-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Dafni Agioy won last quarter 17-11. Dafni Agioy shot 29 for 40 from the free-throw line, while Proteas only scored eight points from the stripe. Dafni Agioy forced 23 Proteas turnovers. The best player for the winners was American center Cassie Rochel (193-91, college: Wisconsin) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. The other American import guard Blake Dietrick (178-93, college: Princeton, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 14 points. Point guard Evgenia Kollatou (172-98) produced 11 points and 5 rebounds and American Labrittney Jones (185-95, college: Arizona) added 6 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Proteas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Dafni Agioy moved-up to fourth place, which they share with PAOK. Proteas lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with ten games lost. Dafni Agioy will meet Panathlitikos (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Proteas will play against Panionios and hope to secure a win.
