Regular Season Round 17: PuHu Juniorit - Espoo Basket 82-95

There was no surprise in Vantaa where 12th ranked PuHu Juniorit (1-16) was defeated by tenth ranked Espoo Basket (5-12) 95-82 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Espoo Basket. PuHu Juniorit was better in third quarter 28-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Espoo Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to PuHu Juniorit's 34. Espoo Basket forced 30 PuHu Juniorit turnovers. The best player for the winners was guard Tuomas Laine (182-97) who scored 30 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Roy Hinkkanen (182-97) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds. Espoo Basket's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Guled Abokar produced 19 points and 6 rebounds and Joni Salmi added 20 points respectively for the hosts. Five Espoo Basket and four PuHu Juniorit players scored in double figures. Espoo Basket maintains tenth place in Division with 5-12 record. Loser PuHu Juniorit keeps the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Espoo Basket will face higher ranked Karkkila (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. PuHu Juniorit will play against PeU-Basket (#4) in Pernio and hope to win that game.
