Regular Season Round 35: Fukushima - Iwate Big Bulls 84-63

Date: February 4, 2018
There was no surprise when 6th ranked Iwate Big Bulls (3-31) were crushed on the road by second ranked Fukushima (20-13) 84-63 on Sunday. Fukushima forced 20 Iwate Big Bulls turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Shinya Murakami (172-91) who scored 16 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. American guard Deon Jones (198-93, college: Monmouth) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. Four Fukushima players scored in double figures. Point guard Nishi Yutaro (176-92) produced 17 points and American center Markhuri Sanders-Frison (203-88, college: California) added 6 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Fukushima. They maintain second place with 20-13 record having just three points less than leader Akita NH, which they share with Gunma. Loser Iwate Big Bulls keep the sixth position with 31 games lost. Fukushima will have a break next round. Iwate Big Bulls will play at home against Aomori Watts (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
