Regular Season Round 19: Givova Scafati - Eurobasket Roma 74-55

There was no surprise when 13th ranked Eurobasket Roma (7-12) was outleveled on the road by third ranked Givova Scafati (13-6) 74-55 on Sunday. Givova Scafati dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Eurobasket Roma's 24. They outrebounded Eurobasket Roma 47-36 including 17 on the offensive glass. Eurobasket Roma was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for American power forward Brandon Sherrod (198-92, college: Yale) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds. British point guard Andrew Lawrence (185-90, college: Charleston, agency: Two Points) contributed with 15 points and 7 assists for the winners. Four Givova Scafati players scored in double figures. American point guard Michael Deloach (184-86, college: Norfolk St.) answered with 11 points and 6 assists and the former international power forward David Brkic (210-82, agency: Interperformances) added 3 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Eurobasket Roma. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Givova Scafati maintains third place in A2 with 13-6 record having just two points less than leader Alma Trieste. Loser Eurobasket Roma keeps the thirteenth position with 12 games lost. Givova Scafati will face Mens Sana 1871 (#12) in Siena in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Eurobasket Roma will play at home against the league's second-placed Eurotrend Biella and hope to win that game.
