Regular Season Round 23: SeaHorses - Tochigi Brex 81-78

Sixth-ranked Tochigi Brex (17-17) was very close to win a game against first ranked Aishin Sea Horses (26-8) in Kariya. Aishin Sea Horses managed to secure only three-point victory 81-78. However their fans expected much easier game. Aishin Sea Horses made 17-of-20 charity shots (85.0 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Aishin Sea Horses especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. It was a great evening for the former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international swingman Makoto Hiejima (190-90) helped adding 13 points and 4 assists. American forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) scored 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Tochigi Brex players scored in double figures. Tochigi Brex's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Aishin Sea Horses maintains first place with 26-8 record. Defending champion Tochigi Brex dropped to the second position with 17 games lost. They share it with Toyama Grouses. Aishin Sea Horses will play against San-en NeoPhoenix (#4) in Hamamatsu in the next round. Tochigi Brex will play on the road against Osaka Evessa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
