Regular Season Round 23: San-en - Nagoya DD 74-77

A very close game took place in Hamamatsu between Diamond Dolphins and San-en NeoPhoenix. Fourth ranked Diamond Dolphins (15-19) got a very close victory on the road over 3rd placed San-en NeoPhoenix (15-19). Diamond Dolphins managed to escape with a 3-point win 77-74 in the game for the third place. Strangely San-en NeoPhoenix outrebounded Diamond Dolphins 43-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for guard Takaya Sasayama (178-93) who led the winners and scored 21 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. American forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: Inception Sports) accounted for 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. American guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 17 rebounds and Canadian center Scott Morrison (213-86, college: Portland St., agency: Pensack Sports) added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively for San-en NeoPhoenix in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Diamond Dolphins moved-up to third place, which they share with San-en. Diamond Dolphins will meet at home Nishinomiya S. (#5) in the next round. San-en NeoPhoenix will play against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
