Regular Season Round 19: Agrigento - Bertram Tortona 88-78

There was an upset when 4th placed Bertram Tortona (11-8) lost on the road to twelfth ranked Agrigento (9-10) 88-78 on Sunday. Agrigento dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Bertram Tortona's 30. They outrebounded Bertram Tortona 39-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. Quite impressive performance for American forward Jalen Cannon (198-93, college: St.Francis, NY) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Pendarvis Williams (198-91, college: Norfolk St., agency: Interperformances) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Agrigento's coach Franco Ciani used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Lithuanian Paulius Sorokas (202-92, agency: Players Group) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and the former international power forward Luca Garri (207-82) added 18 points in the effort for Bertram Tortona. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Agrigento moved-up to ninth place in A2. Loser Bertram Tortona dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. Agrigento will face league's leader Novipiu Casale at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bertram Tortona will play against Virtus Roma (#15) and hope to win that game.
