The game in Kopavogur was also quite interesting. Second ranked Haukar (14-5) played at the court of 5th ranked Breidablik (8-11). Haukar did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 74-57 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Haukar. Breidablik managed to win second period 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Haukar well out of reach of Breidablik shooting 71.6 percent from the field and made 70-of-75 free shots (93.3 percent) during the game. Haukar forced 29 Breidablik turnovers and outrebounded them 132-84 including a 48-30 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 35 long-distance shots on high 70.0 percentage. Haukar looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Breidablik's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Haukar made 9 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for the former international swingman Helena Sverrisdottir (184-88, college: TCU) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds and 9 assists. American forward Whitney Frazier (180-92, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: Two Points) accounted for 14 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for the winning side. American guard Whitney Knight (190-93, college: FGCU) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and center Sollilja Bjarnadottir (171-95) added 17 points respectively for Breidablik in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Haukar have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Valur. Breidablik lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Skallagrimur and Snaefell. Haukar will meet at home Keflavik (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Breidablik will play against Njardvik and hope to secure a win.
