Regular Season Round 28: Gorizont - Victoria 99-62

There was no surprise in Minsk where 5th ranked Victoria (3-17) was crushed by third ranked Gorizont (16-6) 99-62 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Gorizont. Victoria managed to win third quarter 22-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gorizont dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Victoria's 36 and made 24-of-27 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Gorizont forced 27 Victoria turnovers. International guard Alena Holubeva (179-94) fired 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Russian center Anna Nuzhnaya (194-92) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds. Four Gorizont players scored in double figures. Center Anastasiya Serchenya (182-0) produced 21 points and guard Yana Yakhnavets (169-1) added 12 points respectively for lost side. Victoria's coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Gorizont have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 16-6 record having two points less than leader Olimpia. Victoria lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 17 games lost. They share the position with COR Victoria. Gorizont will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Victoria will play at home against BrGU COR Victoria (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
