Regular Season Round 24: Niigata R. - Mitsubishi K. 36-77

Bottom-ranked Niigata R. (0-24) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 24th consecutive match to fifth ranked Mitsubishi K. (16-8) 77-36 on Sunday evening. The game without a history. Mitsubishi K. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Niigata R. to just 3 points in first quarter and to 11 points in first half. Mitsubishi K. held Niigata R. to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 46.0 percent accuracy of the winners and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Mitsubishi K. outrebounded Niigata R. 55-26 including a 23-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Niigata R.'s players. The best player for the winners was the former international center Risa Nishioka (184-97) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Mitsubishi K. moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Chanson V-M. Loser Niigata R. still closes the standings. Mitsubishi K. will meet league's second-placed Denso Iris in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Niigata R. will play against Aishin Wings (#10) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
