Very predictable result in Cordoba where fourth ranked Atenas (12-5) defeated 9th ranked Ferrocarril (7-8) 78-71. Atenas made 20-of-23 charity shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Atenas outrebounded Ferrocarril 37-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. American center Jerome Meyinsse (207-88, college: Virginia, agency: Dutt Sports Services) notched a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import guard Donald Sims (185-87, college: Appalachian St., agency: Pensack Sports) supported him with 17 points. Even 15 points by center Jose-Ignacio Alessio (203-87) did not help to save the game for Ferrocarril. Martin Cuello (193-93) added 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Ferrocarril players scored in double figures. Ferrocarril's coach Ariel Rearte let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Atenas moved-up to second place, which they share with Instituto and Quimsa. Ferrocarril lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. Atenas will play against Argentino (#13) in Junin in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ferrocarril will play at home against Comunicaciones and hopes to get back on the winning track.
