Regular Season Round 8: Stingers - Giants 77-115
Date: February 6, 2018
Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Nassau: Giants (#1) and Stingers (#2). Stingers were smashed at home by 38 points 77-115 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Giants forced 20 Stingers turnovers and outrebounded them 51-36 including a 38-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Stingers' players. The winners were led by David Taylor who scored that evening 27 points and the former international guard DShon Taylor (196-93, college: Norfolk St.) supported him with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 17 points by Devon Ferguson did not help to save the game for Stingers. Henry Rolle added 18 points for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Giants (9-0) have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 9 victories in a row. Loser Stingers keep the second place with four games lost. Giants' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Nassau to the arena Pirates.
