A very interesting game took place in Charleville. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Aix-Maurienne (6-12) to seventeenth ranked Charleville-Mezieres (4-13) 75-74 on Tuesday evening. Aix-Maurienne was ahead by 4 points after three quarters before a 16-11 charge of Charleville-Mezieres, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for American point guard Austen Rowland (186-81, college: Lehigh) who saved his team from a defeat with 17 points and 6 assists. Swingman Lucas Dussoulier (203-96) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Four Charleville-Mezieres players scored in double figures. American-British point guard Akeem Williams (178-91, college: Mass.-Lowell) replied with 15 points and 6 assists and American power forward Curtis Kelly (208-88, college: Kansas St., agency: HMS) added 19 points in the effort for Aix-Maurienne. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Charleville-Mezieres moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with Le Havre. Aix-Maurienne at the other side keeps the twelfth position with 12 games lost. Charleville-Mezieres' next round opponent will be higher ranked Provence Basket (#4) in Fos-sur-Mer and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
