Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Piombino (14-7) won against at home 13th ranked Alba (6-15) 83-79 on Wednesday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Piombino made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was naturalized Croatian Dorde Malbasa (196-95, agency: SPORTlab Agency) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 13 rebounds. Center Edoardo Persico (208-87, agency: Players Group) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Giacomo DellAgnello (201-94) who recorded 25 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized Argentinian swingman Santiago Boffelli (195-83) added 18 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Five Alba players scored in double figures. Piombino moved-up to fourth place in B, which they share with Faenza and Lecco. Newly promoted Alba keeps the thirteenth position with 15 games lost. Piombino will face league's second-placed Firenze All Foods at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Alba will play against LTC Sangiorg.
