Regular Season Round 16: Zadar - Zabok 83-81

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked KK Zadar as it allowed them to take a leadership position. KK Zadar edged 7th ranked KK Zabok at home 83-81. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-20. But KK Zabok won second period 19-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. KK Zadar forced 22 KK Zabok turnovers. Strangely KK Zabok outrebounded KK Zadar 37-23 including 24 on the defensive glass. KK Zadar looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of center Kristijan Krajina (209-90, college: Mt.St.Mary's) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 8 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and American Steven Gray (196-89, college: Gonzaga) who added 21 points during the contest. KK Zadar's coach Aramis Naglic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side forward Petar Maric (196-87, agency: PEPI SPORT) responded with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and center Antonio Vlaic (205-91) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Four KK Zabok players scored in double figures. KK Zadar (14-1) have an impressive 14-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. KK Zabok at the other side keeps the seventh place with eight games lost. KK Zabok will play next round against Alkar trying to get back on the winning streak. KK Zadar will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked KK Skrljevo on the road.
