There was a minor upset when 9th ranked SKY/Basquete (8-10) lost to eleventh ranked Vasco Da G. (8-13) in Rio de Janeiro 92-96 on Thursday. Vasco Da G. dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to SKY/Basquete's 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. It was an exceptional evening for international power forward Lucas Mariano (208-93) who led the winners and scored 23 points and 7 rebounds. The former international Guilherme Giovannoni (203-80) accounted for 18 points and 5 assists for the winning side. The former international point guard David Rossetto (180-93) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists and naturalized Italian point guard Paulinho Boracini (183-84) added 27 points and 4 assists respectively for SKY/Basquete in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Vasco Da G. maintains eleventh place with 8-13 record. Loser SKY/Basquete dropped to the tenth position with ten games lost. Vasco Da G.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Rio de Janeiro to the arena Botafogo F.R..
