Regular Season Round 17: Kalev/Cramo - Tartu Ulikool 73-75

Date: February 8, 2018
Undefeated Kalev/Cramo (18-1) recorded its first loss in Tallinn on Thursday night. Hosts were edged by second ranked Tartu Ulikool (13-6) 75-73. It ended at the same time the 18-game winning streak of Kalev/Cramo. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The guests trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 47-39 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Kalev/Cramo helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward Steven Cook (196-94, college: Princeton) who scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. The former international forward Kristjan Kitsing (205-90, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. American-Bulgarian power forward Cedric Simmons (206-86, college: N.Carolina St.) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and American point guard Isaiah Briscoe (191-96, college: Kentucky) added 9 points and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. Kalev/Cramo's coach Donaldas Kairys rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Tartu Ulikool have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 13-6 record having five points less than leader Kalev/Cramo. Defending champion Kalev/Cramo still keeps top position with one game lost. Tartu Ulikool are looking forward to face Valga (#4) on the road in the next round. Kalev/Cramo will have a break next round.
