Second Stage Round 6: Valkas SI - Riga/Ridzene 102-87

Bottom-ranked Valkas SI managed to get a third victory. This time newly promoted Valkas SI won against eighteenth-ranked Riga/Ridzene in Valga 102-87. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 15-point difference suggests that Valkas SI is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. The game without a history. Valkas SI led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Valkas SI forced 21 Riga/Ridzene turnovers and outrebounded them 45-33 including 16 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. It was a good game for guard Elvis Sukteris (194-96) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 44 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. Guard Karlis Vecens (185-95) contributed with 4 points, 8 rebounds, 17 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Guard Jekabs Valdmanis (167-99) replied with 17 points and guard Davis-Matiss Zilde (170-0) added 14 points and 4 assists in the effort for Riga/Ridzene. Five Riga/Ridzene players scored in double figures. Riga/Ridzene's coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Valkas SI (3-7) moved-up to eighteenth place, which they share with Ogre/Kumho Tyre. Riga/Ridzene at the other side dropped to the bottom position with six games lost. Valkas SI will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Riga/Ridzene will play against Madona (#16) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
