Regular Season Round 18: HBA-Marsky - Jarvenpaa 109-58

1st Division top team - HBA-Marsky (14-3) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Jarvenpaa (2-17) in Helsinki 109-58. The game without a history. HBA-Marsky led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Jarvenpaa's 26. They outrebounded Jarvenpaa 56-23 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. HBA-Marsky looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Jarvenpaa's players. Forward Mikael Jantunen (203-0) notched a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) to lead the effort and center Tuukka Jaakkola (207-99) supported him with 17 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four HBA-Marsky players scored in double figures. Even 17 points by guard Jesse Viita (186-93) did not help to save the game for Jarvenpaa. Swingman Julius Pehkonen (191-93) added 5 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. HBA-Marsky maintains first position in Division with 14-3 record. Loser Jarvenpaa keeps the twelfth place with 17 games lost. HBA-Marsky will meet Oulun NMKY (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Jarvenpaa will play against Lahti and hope to secure a win.
