There was no surprise when 15th ranked Virtus Roma (6-14) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Bertram Tortona (12-8) 75-69 on Thursday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Bertram Tortona made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Lithuanian Paulius Sorokas (202-92, agency: Players Group) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and American guard Melvin Johnson (193-93, college: VCU) who added 20 points during the contest. Bertram Tortona's coach Lorenzo Pansa used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. American power forward Lee Roberts (201-87, college: Findlay, OH) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Davide Parente (188-83) scored 10 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bertram Tortona maintains fifth position in A2 with 12-8 record. Loser Virtus Roma keeps the fifteenth place with 14 games lost. Bertram Tortona will face Cuore Napoli (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Virtus Roma will play against the league's leader Novipiu Casale and hope to win that game.
