Regular Season Round 17: KR - Grindavik 102-72
Date: February 9, 2018
The game with biggest result difference took place in Reykjavik. Local KR (13-4) outscored 6th ranked Grindavik (9-8) 102-72 on Friday night. The game was mostly controlled by KR. Grindavik managed to win third quarter 28-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Grindavik's 28. KR looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 20 passes made by Grindavik's players. International forward Kristofer Acox (198-93, college: Furman) stepped up and scored 25 points and 8 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners and the former international guard Jon Stefansson (192-82) chipped in 23 points. American forward JNathan Bullock (196-87, college: Cleveland St., agency: SDJ Sports) responded with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Dagur Jonsson (185-95, college: St.Francis, NY) scored 19 points and 6 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. KR have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Haukar. Loser Grindavik keeps the sixth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Stjarnan. KR will meet league's leader Haukar in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Grindavik will play against Njardvik (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
