Regular Season Round 37: Sichuan BW - Zhejiang GB 93-118

Very expected game in Sichuan where 17th ranked Blue Whales (8-29) were crushed by tenth ranked Golden Bulls (20-17) 118-93 on Friday. Golden Bulls made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 64.0 percentage. Golden Bulls looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Blue Whales' players. American swingman Sonny Weems (198-86, college: Arkansas) stepped up with a triple-double by scoring 41 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners and international guard Qian Wu (190-94) chipped in 42 points (!!!) and 5 assists. Four Golden Bulls players scored in double figures. At the losing side Nigerian-American power forward Ikechukwu Diogu (204-83, college: Arizona St.) responded with 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (218-85) scored 19 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Golden Bulls maintains tenth place with 20-17 record. Blue Whales lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the seventeenth position with 29 games lost. Golden Bulls will face higher ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (#6) in Urumqi in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Blue Whales will play on the road against Jilin Tigers (#18) in Changchun and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
