Regular Season Round 36: Tokyo Z - Cyberdyne IR 80-49

There was a minor upset when 4th ranked Cyberdyne IR (17-18) was outscored on the road by sixth ranked Tokyo Z (13-23) 80-49 on Friday. Tokyo Z dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Cyberdyne IR's 26. They outrebounded Cyberdyne IR 46-32 including 31 on the defensive glass. Tokyo Z looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Cyberdyne IR's players. It was a good game for guard Tatsuya Nishiyama (171-88) who led his team to a victory with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Latvian center Ricmonds Vilde (211-90, college: Houston Baptist) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Four Tokyo Z players scored in double figures. Swingman Josei Maniwa (193-86) replied with 14 points and guard Atsunobu Hirao (178-89) added 11 points in the effort for Cyberdyne IR. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tokyo Z maintains sixth position with 13-23 record. Loser Cyberdyne IR keeps the fourth place with 18 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
