Regular Season Round 21: Fjolnir - Snaefell 79-82

Date: February 9, 2018
The most exciting game of round 21 in the D1 took place in Reykjavik. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 6th ranked Fjolnir (8-11) to fifth ranked Snaefell (10-9) 82-79 in the game for the fifth place. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 24-17 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. American guard Christian Covile (193-93, college: Adrian) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds for the winners and point guard Viktor Alexandersson (180-97) chipped in 13 points. Four Snaefell players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Sam Prescott (190-90, college: Mt.St.Mary's, agency: SDJ Sports) with a double-double by scoring 44 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and Andres Kristleifsson (190-95) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Fjolnir's coach Falur Hardarson tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Snaefell maintains fifth place with 10-9 record. Fjolnir at the other side keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. Snaefell are looking forward to face higher ranked Hamar (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fjolnir will play against Breidablik in Kopavogur and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
