Regular Season Round 37: Qingdao E. - Shandong GS 118-135

Everything went according to plan in Qingdao where fourth ranked Golden Stars (27-10) beat 16th ranked Eagles (11-26) 135-118 on Friday. Golden Stars made 28-of-37 free shots (75.7 percent) during the game. Golden Stars outrebounded Eagles 51-33 including a 22-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Eagles were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. International forward Yanyuhang Ding (200-93) stepped up and scored 41 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and American point guard Ty Lawson (180-87, college: N.Carolina) chipped in 31 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side Central African-American power forward James Mays (206-86, college: Clemson) responded with 29 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St.) scored 25 points and 7 rebounds. Four Golden Stars and five Eagles players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Golden Stars. They maintain fourth place with 27-10 record. Loser Eagles keep the sixteenth position with 26 games lost. Golden Stars will face Gold Lions (#19) in Tianjin in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Eagles will play on the road against Sharks in Shanghai and hope to win that game.
