Regular Season Round 23: Alcobendas - Estudio 72-85

There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Alcobendas (10-9) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Estudio (7-12) 85-72 on Saturday. The game without a history. Estudio led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Alcobendas' 26. They outrebounded Alcobendas 48-34 including a 40-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Estudio looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Gabriel Rodriguez (198) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Point guard Eduardo Vicente (179-86) chipped in 21 points and 4 assists. Four Estudio players scored in double figures. Estudio's coach Borja Gonzalez used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Guillermo Ruiz (185-95, college: Newberry) produced 17 points and power forward Daniel Trachsel (202-94) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Newly promoted Estudio maintains eleventh place in Group B with 7-12 record, which they share with Quintanar. Alcobendas lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. Estudio's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Madrid to the arena Real Madrid II.
