Regular Season Round 23: Girona Basquet - Mataro Parc Boet 88-71

Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Mataro Parc Boet (8-8) was defeated on the road by second ranked Girona Basquet (12-4) 88-71 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-71. Girona Basquet dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Mataro Parc Boet's 28. They outrebounded Mataro Parc Boet 40-20 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Girona Basquet looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was David Cuellar (192-97) who scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Daniel Manchon (191-98) chipped in 9 points and 5 assists. Girona Basquet's coach Quim Costa used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Point guard Dario Naharro (180) produced 10 points and 4 assists and guard Marc Rubio (186-88) added 11 points respectively for the guests. Four Mataro Parc Boet players scored in double figures. Girona Basquet keeps a position of Group C-A leader, which they share with Vive El Masnou. Mataro Parc Boet at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the seventh place with eight games lost. Girona Basquet will face Cantaires Tortosa (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mataro Parc Boet will play against Barbera (#12) in Barcelona and hope to win that game.
