The game between closely ranked teams ended with one of their biggest challengers Kanazawa Sam.'s (17-17) road loss to second ranked Gunma (21-13) 62-94 on Saturday. Gunma made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Gunma outrebounded Kanazawa Sam. 47-33 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for forward Scootie Randall (198-90, college: Temple) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) contributed with 21 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) replied with 20 points and 5 rebounds and center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) added 8 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Kanazawa Sam.The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gunma have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 21-13 record behind leader Akita NH. Newly promoted Kanazawa Sam. keeps the third place with 17 games lost. Gunma will face again Kanazawa Sam. (#3) in Ishikawa in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
