Regular Season Round 19: San Salvatore - Costa Masnaga 63-73

Very predictable result when second ranked Costa Masnaga (16-3) won against on the road 10th ranked San Salvatore (6-13) 73-63 on Saturday. Costa Masnaga made 21-of-21 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Costa Masnaga made 9 blocks. It was a very good performance for American center Camille Mahlknecht (190-93, college: CS Northridge) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 9 blocks. Power forward Giulia Rulli (184-91, agency: SPORTlab Agency) contributed with 22 points and 5 rebounds (made all of her ten free throws !!!) for the winners. The former international guard Cinzia Arioli (178-84, agency: LBM Management) answered with 12 points and Ilenia Cordola (183-96) added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for San Salvatore. San Salvatore's coach Fabrizio Staico tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Costa Masnaga maintains second place in A2 with 16-3 record behind leader Sesto SG. Loser San Salvatore keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. Costa Masnaga will face Bolzano (#15) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. San Salvatore will play against Vicenza (#7) and hope to win that game.
