Regular Season Round 23: Mondragon - BIOK2.COM OKE 85-79

There was a small surprise when fourteenth ranked Mondragon (6-14) won against at home 12th ranked BIOK2.COM OKE (6-14) 85-79 on Saturday. BIOK2.COM OKE trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 17 after three quarters before a 26-15 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 79-85 at the end of the game. Mondragon had a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was guard Martxel Balanzategui (191-92) who scored 24 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Iker Barbero (192-92) chipped in 9 points and 14 rebounds. Mondragon's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Asier De-la-Iglesia (201-83) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists and Eneko Duran added 18 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four BIOK2.COM OKE players scored in double figures. Mondragon moved-up to twelfth place in Group A-A, which they share with defeated BIOK2.COM OKE. Mondragon will face higher ranked Pielagos (#3) in Renedo de Pielagos in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
