Regular Season Round 36: Yamagata - Akita NH 73-87

An interesting game for Akita Happinets (31-4) which played road game in Yamagata against 3rd ranked Yamagata (15-20). First ranked Akita Happinets managed to get a 14-point victory 87-73. Akita Happinets dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Yamagata's 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Yamagata's players. It was a good game for Bahamas power forward Kadeem Coleby (206-89, college: Wichita St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 10 rebounds. The former international guard Shigehiro Taguchi (184-90) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Coleby is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Billy McShepard (208-87, college: Valdosta St., agency: Blacktop Management) replied with 13 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Mitsutaka Izawa (194-93) added 17 points in the effort for Yamagata. Four Akita Happinets and five Yamagata players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Akita Happinets have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 31-4 record. Yamagata lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the third place with 20 games lost. Akita Happinets will have a break next round. Yamagata will play again at home against the league's leader Akita Happinets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
