Regular Season Round 18: Tokyo HT - Otsuka A. 74-99
Date: February 10, 2018
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Tokyo: Otsuka A. (#2) and Tokyo HT (#1). Tokyo HT was smashed at home by 25 points 74-99 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Otsuka A. had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was a good game for swingman Shuichiro Samejima (188-87) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Power forward Takeshi Hasegawa (196-84) contributed with 5 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners. American power forward Alex Jones (206-87, college: Seattle) replied with 14 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Joel James (208-94, college: N.Carolina) added 10 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Tokyo HT. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Otsuka A. (18-6) have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Saitama Bron. and Tokyo HT. Otsuka A. will play against Toyoda Gosei (#4) in Aichi in the next round. Tokyo HT's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tokyo to the arena Tokyo Big Blue.
