Regular Season Round 32: Helsinki Seagulls - Kataja Basket 104-100

Very expected game when 6th ranked Joensuun Kataja (15-11) lost on the road to second ranked Helsinki Seagulls (18-11) 104-100 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Joensuun Kataja was trailing by 12 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 31-26 charge of Helsinki Seagulls, which allowed them to win the game. They made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. Helsinki Seagulls looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Jermaine Marshall (193-90, college: Arizona St., agency: SDJ Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 30 points. International Tuukka Kotti (205-81, college: Providence) contributed with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. American point guard Damier Pitts (177-89, college: Marshall, agency: Inception Sports) replied with 34 points (!!!) and his fellow American import swingman Jarekious Bradley (196-90, college: SE Missouri St.) added 20 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Joensuun Kataja. Five Helsinki Seagulls and four Joensuun Kataja players scored in double figures. Helsinki Seagulls maintains second position with 18-11 record having nine points less than leader Salon Vilpas. Defending champion Joensuun Kataja keeps the sixth place with 11 games lost. Helsinki Seagulls will face KTP-Basket (#8) in Kotka in the next round where they are favorite. Joensuun Kataja will play at home against Lapuan Korikobrat and hope to win that game.
