Regular Season Round 23: Almansa - Casvi 84-64

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Almansa (13-5) smashed at home 14th ranked Casvi (5-14) 84-64 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-64. Almansa forced 20 Casvi turnovers. Strangely Casvi outrebounded Almansa 30-18 including a 24-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian center Marius Vaskys (206-87, college: N.C.Central) who scored 14 points. Guard Carlos Cerdan (190-97) chipped in 6 points and 6 assists. Four Almansa players scored in double figures. American-Nigerian guard Deji Ibitayo (193-93, college: Akron, agency: Duran International) produced 19 points and 7 rebounds and Alfonso Ortiz (190-99) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Almansa. They moved-up to fourth place in Group B. Casvi lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with 14 games lost. Almansa will face Rivas (#8) on the road in the next round. Casvi will play against Liceo Frances (#15) in Madrid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
