We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Malaga where seventh ranked Almeria (8-8) edged 6th ranked Unicaja-Andalucia (8-8) 93-90 on Saturday. Strangely Unicaja-Andalucia outrebounded Almeria 47-31 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Unicaja-Andalucia was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was guard Jesus Castro (191-83) who scored 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Cristian Ramon (-92) chipped in 21 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Jose-Luis Ibanez (197-0) produced 27 points and 5 rebounds and forward Ismael Tamba (198-1) added 15 points and 16 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for the hosts. Five Almeria and four Unicaja-Andalucia players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Almeria moved-up to sixth place in Group D-A, which they share with defeated Unicaja-Andalucia. Almeria will face Novaschool (#8) in Malaga in the next round.
