Regular Season Round 36: Sendai 89ers - Ehime OV 89-84

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Orange Vikings (21-14) against fourth ranked Sendai 89ers (14-21) on Saturday night. Visiting Orange Vikings were defeated by Sendai 89ers in a tough game in Sendai 84-89. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Orange Vikings. Sendai 89ers players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Shugaku Izumi (190-91) who scored 19 points and 8 rebounds. American center Marcus Cousin (211-86, college: Houston) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 42 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Toshino Tatsuhiko (185-88) added 10 points and 6 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Sendai 89ers maintains fourth position with 14-21 record. Orange Vikings at the other side keep the third place with 14 games lost. Sendai 89ers' next round opponent will be again higher ranked Orange Vikings (#3) in Matsuyama and it may be the game of the week.
