Regular Season Round 18: Ensino - Aros Patatas 73-67

The most important game in the last round took place in Lugo between second ranked Aros Patatas (13-5) and fifth ranked Maquinaria Ensino (12-6) on Saturday night. Aros Patatas was defeated by Maquinaria Ensino in a tough game on the road 67-73. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Aros Patatas. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Aros Patatas won third quarter 15-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was guard Regina Gomez (173-82, agency: ProDep Management) who scored 22 points and 4 assists. American Margaret Roundtree (183-88, college: Gardner-Webb, agency: ProDep Management) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds. Roundtree is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Maquinaria Ensino players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Iria Varela-Campo (168-96) who recorded 23 points and 6 rebounds and guard Andrea Alcantara (169-99) added 17 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Maquinaria Ensino have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place in Group A, which they share with Barca CBS. Aros Patatas at the other side dropped to the third position with five games lost. Maquinaria Ensino is looking forward to face Rioja (#9) in Azkoitia in the next round where they are favorite. Aros Patatas will play at home against Arxil Pontevedra (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
