Regular Season Round 25: Chanson V-M - Fujitsu RW 60-79

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Shizuoka where 5th ranked Chanson V-M (16-9) was outplayed by sixth ranked Fujitsu RW (16-9) 79-60 on Saturday. The game without a history. Fujitsu RW led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Fujitsu RW outrebounded Chanson V-M 39-28 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international power forward Megumi Shinohara (184-91) fired a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Center Miwa Kuribayashi (187-98) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Fujitsu RW's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international center Rika Tanimura (184-93) produced 15 points and 6 rebounds and international center Miyuki Kawamura (183-94) added 16 points respectively for lost side. The victory was the third consecutive win for Fujitsu RW. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Chanson V-M and Mitsubishi K. Fujitsu RW will face league's second-placed Denso Iris in Kariya in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Chanson V-M will play on the road against Mitsubishi K. in Nagoya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
