Regular Season Round 20: Burgos - Valencia 76-90

Date: February 11, 2018
Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked Burgos (6-14) was defeated at home by second ranked Valencia Basket (14-6) 90-76 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-76. The best player for the winners was American point guard Erick Green (190-91, college: Virginia Tech) who scored 22 points and 6 rebounds. German center Tibor Pleiss (217-89) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Serbian center Goran Huskic (210-92, college: Howard Col., TX) produced 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Deon Thompson (203-88, college: N.Carolina) added 10 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Valencia Basket and four Burgos players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains second position with 14-6 record having four points less than leader Real Madrid. Burgos lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fifteenth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with RETAbet BB. Valencia Basket will meet Gran Canaria (#5) in the next round. Burgos will play against the league's leader Real Madrid (#1) and hope to secure a win.
