Regular Season Round 18: Toyoda Gosei - Tokyo Big Blue 74-71

There was no surprise in Aichi where 9th ranked Tokyo Big Blue (2-20) was edged by fourth ranked Toyoda Gosei (15-9) 74-71 on Sunday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Toyoda Gosei dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Tokyo Big Blue's 30. Toyoda Gosei forced 24 Tokyo Big Blue turnovers. The best player for the winners was American forward Patrick Simon (203-92, college: Seattle Pacific) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. Point guard Eiji Sumihiro (171-89) chipped in 16 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Toyoda Gosei players scored in double figures. Toyoda Gosei's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Joe Wolfinger (216-85, college: Citadel) who recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and point guard Kota Goto (176-94) added 21 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Toyoda Gosei maintains fourth position with 15-9 record. Loser Tokyo Big Blue stay dead last with 20 lost games. Toyoda Gosei will face higher ranked Otsuka A. (#3) in Tokyo in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Tokyo Big Blue's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo Tokyo HT.
