Regular Season Round 18: Segle XXI - GDKO Bizkaia 51-64

There was no surprise in Barcelona where 13th ranked Segle XXI (3-15) was defeated by second ranked GDKO Bizkaia (14-4) 64-51 on Sunday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. GDKO Bizkaia dominated on the defensive end, holding Segle XXI to just 7 points in first and third quarters. GDKO Bizkaia forced 22 Segle XXI turnovers. The best player for the winners was center Miren Agirregoikoa (192-87) who scored 16 points. Forward Maria Barneda (177-98) chipped in 12 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Estel Puiggros who recorded 15 points and Aixa Wone (184-0) added 12 points respectively. Segle XXI's coach Ivan Torinos rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. GDKO Bizkaia have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group A with 14-4 record having four points less than leader Gran Canaria. Loser Segle XXI keeps the thirteenth place with 15 games lost. GDKO Bizkaia will face Oviedo (#14) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Segle XXI will play against ADBA in Aviles and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
